Hide a Stuck Windows Update with wushowhide
When a Windows update fails over and over and Windows keeps trying to install it, hide it with Microsoft's Show or hide updates troubleshooter.
- Download wushowhide.diagcab from Microsoft.
- Run it, click Next and choose Hide updates.
- Tick the problematic KB and finish the wizard.
Note: some browsers flag the download as untrusted. It is the official file, served from download.microsoft.com.
The same thing from PowerShell with the PSWindowsUpdate module:
Install-Module PSWindowsUpdate
Hide-WindowsUpdate -KBArticleID KB5000000
To bring the update back, run the tool again and choose Show hidden updates.
